Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary
Just 1 hour 30 minute from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary in Pahang state is a rare and fantastic opportunity to get to know endemic Malaysian elephants.
Established in 1989, this is the headquarters for the Elephant Relocation Team of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, who have been helping relocate displaced elephants from across Southeast Asia since 1974.
For the brave and adventurous, there are opportunities to take the elephants down to the river and help give them a bath. There really is no better opportunities to take the elephants down to river and help give them a bath. There really no better opportunity than this to get up close and personal these grey giants.
The centre also carries out research and public awareness activities related to elephant translocation and corservation. Visitors are encouraged to view a video presentation on elephant translocation activity filmed in 1996 together with National Geographic at the centre.
